The Tarari Encoder Accelerator for Windows Media® is high-performance, plug and play hardware running custom Tarari logic designed to accelerate the process of encoding Windows Media Video. The Encoder Accelerator for Windows Media uses this reconfigurable logic on a PCI-bus-based board to accelerate and offload the most processor-intensive calculations from the CPU, and run them at accelerated speeds on any Tarari-enabled hardware PC-workstation or server platform with the Windows XP or Windows 2003 operating system. This releases up to 60% of the processing power typically used by the CPU for software-only encoding, and thus allows the CPU to be used for other tasks. Tarari accelerates Windows Media Video encoding for both standard definition and high-definition video.
